I probably have the same entry every year for the last few years, but here it goes again.
I can't help but feel sort of depressed that it's new years and I'm listening to techno on TV. It's nice that my kids are in the other room and my wife is playing video games, but I miss the grand feel of New Years Eve. I grew up with my parents either throwing or going to a party, New Years was always about music and dancing and celebrating. Granted a crying old man was always there to kill the mood, but it was a "special" night.
When I got of age the NY clubs is where I celebrated at, well after new years. Today I sit looking for some TV show to supply me with cornball humor. The fact that this year I was invited to plenty of places didn't help, cause believe me it's very temping to jump in the car and go out right now.
But for now it's trying to keep my eyes open and wait for the ball to drop.

Although the tag Metrosexual has died, I believe that the basic elements of grooming have been reintroduced into the American psyche.
Prior to the Metro revolution as some called it, a Gentleman had always worried about his appearance, smells and intellect. The term never brought anything new to the table except better products and some new science to actually help promote better skin care.
Now as or myself I take great joy in using the silver shaving it my wife gave me last year. It uses the Mach3 blades, which in my opinion are the best blades since BIC saved us from strait razors. Firstly Anthony's pre Shaving oil is great if available, but if not any Aloe based cream is great prior to a shave to help soften the hairs, since hot water can only do so much. I like to use the classic Shaving soap, can shaving creams should be looked into for toxic pollution (ever see what happens to it if you fail to clean it all up from your sink? Try it)
Then a splash of body cologne is fantastic, another gift from the wife and kids. Anthony's Body spray is a great complement after a shower and you are ready to dress and get a moving.
I've found that Body Cologne although cheaper in price works well in the everyday work environment. Sometimes heavy Cologne gets the wrong types of notices, not to say that sometimes a stronger cologne is very needed. I like to use my heavier Colognes for special occasions when I know all the people surrounding me. Who wants to scare folks away, potential clients may be turned off by a heavy scent that overtakes a room.
Dress is where I have difficulty; I know what fits me correct and what colors work well. But I am too lazy to get my own clothes, and perhaps it's the feeling of partnership it brings to our relationship that prevents me from taking the self appointed job my wife currently does and doing it myself.
The other factor is that since I lost some 30 pounds and dropped a few sizes I haven't purchased any new clothes. My pants keep falling, belts are on the last holes and shirts get wrinkled the minute I tuck them into my pants.
Well this post ran over what I intended, well good night.
Watching Chespirito bought back some bad memory from back in Colombia and one of my Aunts. During a trip to a religious town, some town in which a sculpture of Jesus was found in a river and has magically grown to a full 18 foot statue.
Well in this town there would be a market in the center plaza, on one of the trips we took to see and kiss the feet of the Statue. Someone brought me a toy of el Chapulin a character of Chespirito's show that was a very flawed and funny super hero. The toy was a stick with a toy of the super hero and he would climb up & down the stick.
I was playing the toy the whole drive home, since in those days kids sat in the back of the Rover and kept quiet. Self-entertainment essential, unlike my kids who simply talk they feel the need a sudden outburst by sister or I (especially myself in those days, la negra was very cute unlike myself, a pale gringo who didn't have the Marlboro look) would be meet by either some sarcastic comment or a look that would tell us to shut the fuck up.
Well when we finally got to the house, my toy, which was sold as a cute joke gift, had stopped working. It was late in the night, the adults where in the living room as the kids would be away making sure not to disturb the ever life changing conversations of the adults. All I remember is that my Aunt at one point decided to come over to the kids, and had asked for the toy. When I gave her the toy and she saw that it didn't work, it was as if I had burned a cross. The fire breathing and the speaking of tongues was very unnecessary, but the sad fact is that it reminds me of ME!!!!.
So many times have I screamed at my kids for some dumb shit, stuff like eating Candy which was sugar infused as a temptation for the pallets. Or breaking a toy, which was meant to be played with, but some genius in an office tough it was great to make weak leg attachments to a flexible doll.
I seriously have to stop that.
On other notes while writing this I was funny to se Samuel L. Jackson an Emilio Estevez in Loaded Weapon 1 breaking into the same room that Samuel L . Jackson and John Travolta broke into in Pulp fiction.
One tough the digital diabetes reader and blind Jose Feliciano, not to be cruel but how the fuck is he reading a digital readout?
Who Watches Joey? Who watched King Kong? Who buys Klay Aiken albums?

Well let me begin with a big thank you to the folks who got me some nice fancy things for x-mas.
The house was full of coughing kids and parents, high temperatures and early naps. It was a normal holiday with the one difference of one member being sick, we all decided to join the fun.
The kids got plenty of toys, which was great to see how the family came up to the plate in this time of let's say "financial stress". Thank you all very much.

Well not to sound bitter, but the fact that FIFA made Mexico a top seed has the markings of money talks and the poor walks. Mexico has poured Billions of dollars into their soccer leagues as well as into the regional Cocacaf and FIFA of course. The US has not been as big of a financial contributor, soccer not being as big in the US as in the rest of the world.
But I have faith that all the adversity is simply a road map to greatness, I mean if we beat Italy then every pizza place will probably have a picture of the US team somewhere in the joint. Czech republic, just a pastime and Ghana, well they run fast and attack like ----------. So what's the problem?
On another note, in life partners, friends, children even strangers can get the subtle hints when a person says something, but means something else. I don't have such luck, folks seem to take me literally. Wife, kids and coworkers. I guess it's sad that no one understands me ;(
